Dining with the King Slower, Holier Table Experience

Invited to Dine

What if every meal became a meeting with God?

Dining with the King began for me at an ordinary dinner table, wondering how to slow down instead of rushing past grace after a quick prayer.

I realized mealtimes are perfect invitations to speak to and listen to the Lord—where breath and bread meet Presence, and where the soul is nourished alongside the body.

When we slow our pace—chew, breathe, notice—we begin to taste the bounty of God’s kindness: provision, peace, and the gentle re-centering of a scattered heart.

Jesus told a story about a king who prepared a wedding feast for his son (Matthew 22:1–14; cf. Luke 14:15–24).

The invited guests were too busy to come, so the king sent servants to gather anyone willing—people who never thought they belonged at a royal table.

That’s the gospel at dinnertime: you are wanted. Not because you’ve earned a seat, but because the King delights to share His table with you.

Every ordinary meal becomes a living reminder of that invitation—set down your hurry, come as you are, and participate in joy.

Here’s a simple practice: before your first bite, pause for one slow breath and pray, “Jesus, I’m dining with You.”

Notice color, texture, aroma.

Offer thanks. Eat a little more slowly than usual. Between bites, ask a small question—“Where were You with me today?”—and listen.

This isn’t about perfection; it’s about Presence. Over time, the table becomes a sanctuary of steady grace.

If this stirs something in you, I’d love to walk with you. As a Christian life coach, I help men and women weave God’s Word into practical daily living—from mealtimes to mindset.
