🌿 Mindful of Me: Finding God in Creation and Quiet Moments

ree

“When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place—what is man that you are mindful of Him?”— Psalm 8:3–4

There’s something sacred that happens when I step outside.

When I look at the mountains or stand in a valley, when the sun paints the sky in brilliant hues or a storm rolls in heavy with purpose—my soul stirs.

And in that stirring, I hear Him.

Not always in words, but in presence.

In the stillness.

In the wonder of Him.

In the way the sky opens up or the way the sea swells as if pregnant with praise.

Even in the storm, there is calm—because it feels like the storm itself is anticipating God's voice saying, “Peace, be still.”

It’s in these very places—creation laid bare before me—that the Lord often speaks.

Through His Word, yes, but also through the emotion, the stillness, and the awe.

And I am reminded:

He is not only Creator of the galaxies, but the One who sees me, knows me, and is mindful of me.

🪞 He Is Mindful of You, Too

Psalm 8 captures the paradox so beautifully:

God’s glory is set above the heavens—yet He leans in to care for us.

He speaks through the magnitude of the stars, and yet also through the laugh of a child, the gaze of your beloved, or the croak of frogs at dusk.

Every element of creation whispers an invitation to come home to Him.

Sometimes I see it most clearly in my people—my husband, my children, my granddaughter, and the little ones I’ve had the joy of watching over the years. I look at them and I am struck speechless by the soul-deep beauty God placed in them.

We are fearfully and wonderfully made. Not just once, but every moment we are sustained by His breath.

🕊️ Where Heaven Touches Earth

Whether I’m walking in the woods, kneeling in prayer, or having a conversation with someone whose eyes reflect divine love—I feel the Spirit.

I walk away from these moments forever changed. Not because everything in my life has shifted, but because I’ve been touched by Heaven.

There’s a verse that says He has ordained praise from the lips of children to silence His enemies (Psalm 8:2). Isn’t that like God?

To use the fragile and overlooked things—babies, birds, croaking frogs, wildflowers, whispering winds—to defeat darkness?

It tells me something sacred: the small things matter.

They are where the realness of God often shows up.

🌸 The Unforced Rhythms of Grace

At Rhythms of Grace Life Coaching, my heart is to help others experience this same slowing down—this sacred surrender.

To tune into the still, small voice of God.

To let go of the loud demands of the world and reconnect with what truly matters:

Presence. Beauty. Love. Grace.

I long for more of these moments in my own life—less interest in the to-do list, more wonder found in my prayer room or on a walk with the Lord.

I long to delight in Him and to delight in you, my readers, my clients, my fellow travelers.

Because in our connection, in our shared awe and praise, I find a sweet reminder of our true home—Not just Heaven someday, but Heaven here.

Jesus in our midst.Glory in the ordinary.

✍️ Journal Prompts for Reflection:

  1. Where have I seen God's beauty today—in creation or in people?

  2. When was the last time I truly felt awe? What stirred in me?

  3. What distractions do I need to surrender to make space for God's presence?

  4. What would it look like to let His rhythms lead me this week?

💌 With All My Love

If you feel a longing for more beauty, more stillness, more of God's presence in your everyday life—you’re not alone.

Let’s walk this road together—through the flowers of the field, under the stars He set in place, and into the quiet where His voice still speaks.

With joy, Shel
